What got you into Pens?

So what is it about pens and writing instruments that perks your interest? I myself do not own any high end writing instruments, I have a very nice Swiss Army/Victronix pen but it is definitley not in the same ballpark as a Mont Blanc.

Anyway, I do a lot of writing between work and school, and my trusty Dr. Grips have always stood up to the daily rigors I put them through. I have never thought about upgrading my equipment until recently, and mostly because of this forum.

What is it about these high end writing instruments draws you to purchase and in some cases collect? And for a little parlay question, do you actually use your high end instruments on a daily basis, or are they merely pocket/desk candy?

I can't find any reason to buy one except for the fact that they are beautiful and I would love to own one "grail pen" for lack of a better term. Is their quality superior? Is it mostly a "status symbol" type of thing? What is it???
