What did I do to my pen.....!!!!!

Here in Australia we are a little behind the times.

Montblanc introduced a new ink in January 2010 called 'Oyster Grey'.

However, here in Australia, 10 months later the new ink is yet to hit our shores with still no indication as to when it might arrive

So I heard this voice...."Ebay is your friend"....well actually it was an email spam from ebay itself telling me it could answer all my dreams.

So $35 and a week later a little package arrives

Oh I am so happy

Now all I need to do is clean my Montblanc 149 pride and joy with its 0BBB nib and let the juices flow......this is going to be awesome.

I spent a good 30 minutes flushing my pen out with water, again and again, until that little window was clear and my pen and nib were clean.

However I didn't want to dilute the colour of the ink so I spent another 5 minutes gently pressing the nib onto a tissue to drain out all the remaining water.

Looks like I'm good to go with the new amazing ink.

Just a shake or two of the pen to get out any remaining water and.................

BANG!!!!!

I smashed the tip of my nib into the tissue sitting on my desk.

I didn't mean to do that and I hope/think it did no harm.

So I proceed to fill up my pen with this new lucious ink and all looks good.

Then I put pen to paper and instead of it being like music to my ears, it's like an unbalanced needle of a record player scratching across the radius of a record and a scream that leaves you feeling like you've just destroyed your record with a permanent mark that you will hear as a thump on every rotation of the record for the rest of your life.

Back to the pen. Yes it was damaged, it scratched it's way across the page.

I bent the tines such that one now sits higher than the other on the face of the page. I tried to fix it but it was not possible.

So it's now at the repairers.........maybe never to be the same again.........

An expensive lesson......take care of your nib
