For my next watch I would like to get a Rolex Sub Date.

I was thinking to go vintage...and the years 1983 and 1985 have a special significance for me. Was there any technical difference between Subs made in these years? What price range should I expect?

I know dating with serial numbers is an inexact science, but any thoughts from the TRF community (ideally with pictures) would be most appreciated.
