Not all ceramic bezel inserts are created equal
I have long thought that the GMT-IIc bezel insert has a glossier, wetter looking shine than the ceramic bezel inserts on the subs. Not that the materials are different, but there is something about the shape of the insert that seems to reflect light differently. It probably has something to do with having more inset numbers cut into it, but what exactly I don't know.
Well, today I held a SS sub-c next to my GMT-CC in several different lighting conditions, and it was no contest: the GMT insert has the classic "wet shine" that concept cars exhibit at international car shows, while the sub just doesn't. Shiny, reflective yes, but not the same quality of reflection as the GMT. Anyone else notice this or care to disagree? |
