My humble 1000th post!

Hey TRF,

It still seems like yesterday that I became enamored with Rolex watches and found my way over to TRF after a year+ at other watch forums. I remember TRF had an allure of being a very elite "member's only" type club and so I was a little hesitant about whether I'd fit in with my limited Rolex credentials. I've found that this forum is extremely friendly and helpful. It is one of my favorite internet destinations and I'd like to thank everyone for making it such a cool place.

To recollect and reminisce, I was a late-blooming WIS, having tapped into watches in the past 3 years with an initial heavy fall into Omega models. I found Rolex fairly quickly and have now been through a number of them with more still to come. I tried a Sub 14060M early and then a 16610LV that really hooked me into this Rolex sports watch craze.

I initially posted about my experience with reversing the clasp for small wrists. Kinda boring in retrospect, but was exciting to me at the time, LOL.

Another early thread was all about my pride in doing a Sub LV bezel swap. This was one of my earliest Rolex loves and I still think I'll get another one someday.

Around that same time, I picked up my first "project watch," a 16700 I remember buying for a song <$2500 and getting all serviced and nice. I still question my motives for selling it.

After my love affair with these models, I was totally smitten by the Sub-C, a watch that hooked me really hard and I loved it for a long time. I will probably own this one again in the future as it really is pretty (but those lugs are sooooo wide, LOL.

After wearing this one non-stop for 6 months or longer, I started to dip my toes into vintage Rolex watches. This led to the sale of my beloved Sub-C. What came next? A nice luminova red Sub. It was a beauty.

Then what? I traded it for a modern 16600 Sea Dweller. So you'll notice I can't quite decide, much like many others on this forum, heh heh.

I was darn convinced that this SD would be my one and only watch, but no way could that come true. Within a few months, I scored another sweet vintage Sub 1680 that remains with me.

I left out a number of others that have quickly been caught and released. We know how that goes. What's next for me? Not sure. I think I'm hooked by the notion of having 1-2 uber modern Rolexes and 1-2 vintage Rolexes. I'll keep a 1680 or 5513 near to me and either my SD or something like the new 42mm Explorer II. We shall see!

I have really enjoyed being a part of this community! I've learned a lot and would like to think that my posts have been more about quality vs. quantity.

Regards,
Eric
