Rolex trained technicians at local jeweler

I've been checking out the different Rolex forums for some general information, as I'm about to land my first Rolex. Have to say I've had some interesting reading. This is by far the easiest to navigate and user friendly forum I've run across .

Have a question for you all. Is there such a thing as a Rolex factory trained technician who would be working at your local jewelry store who could bring a Rolex up to snuff?

My wife bought a Rolex in Switzerland about 7 years ago. Never had it serviced. Part of the crystal broke off on the inside and inhibited the hands from moving. She called around and was referred to a jewelry store who had an onsite technician. They had to order some parts, when they were done it came back looking like new. After reading on the forums, I'm wondering if this was legit.

Thanks in advance for the replies.
