Will Discontinued models command higher value?

Can experts here share some light with me on the above topics.

I heard AD mentioning before that certain models if are expected to discontinue will sell at a higher price as no longer in production and will soon be remove from the current model hence prices will go up.

As for the current models, the productions are still on, hence will still be selling at controll discounts.

E.g just like the 2009 submariner where the bezel is aluminum. The last batch of V series is selling at higher price.

Is that true?
