Winding question

Being a new owner of mechanical wind PAM111, I am seeking good advice for winding. According to the manual, you wind the watch gently until the crown stops. I just got my watch yesterday and I wound it until I encountered some pretty decent resistance, and then I stopped. Do I truly wind it until it will no longer wind? Also, is it best to do this daily, every other day, or in some other intervals?

I ask because I am truly a spoiled automatic watch owner who keeps his Rolex in a watch winder.

Thanks for any advice.
