Old Model "Brand New" Watches

All,

New guy here. I'm wondering how non-AD sellers (even the most reputable ones) can secure older watches (say 2006) that are "brand new," i.e full warranty, never purchased by anyone? I understand that Rolex is very strict with their dealers, so I'm wondering how so many older-model "brand new" watches are for sale on the net.

Don't get me wrong, I'm ready to buy one, and I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. But one of my hobbies is to study markets, and this one really intrigues me.

Thanks!
