Montblanc Warranty? Major pitting on my platinum 164

Hi all.

A few months ago i noticed some holes starting to appear around the ring in the middle of my MB. I had no idea what it was and figured it was just part of the make up of the platinum that i had never noticed before. This week i noticed its got condiserably worse, so the point where it is now 'eating' away at the Meisterstuck logo area.

After some research, found out it's pitting of the platinum. I have always taken care of the pen, either kept it at my desk, or in my leather filofax pen flap.

1. Is this a common thing?
2. What is Mont Blancs policy/warenty on something like this do you think?
3. I bought the pen from a montblanc dealer at Heathrow T5 airport about 2 and half years ago. I am based in Philly. Is the warenty valid now im in the US?

Does anyone have any experience of the NYC MB boutique with situations like this? Im going to be in that area on Monday and would like to swing through.

Thanks so much

Chris

PS. No pics, sorry!
