Gold Day Date w/Karat Bracelet
I have a 1989 R183458 Rolex Day Date, "President" with diamond (44) bezel, diamond dial (8 RB's 2 Baguettes) and a 'karat' bracelet with 298 RB diamonds on the center links. I am concerned about the bracelet which is marked 8385 which according to my research it is a genuine "Super President' rolex 18kt gold bracelet but not a diamond set bracelet which I believe would be marked, 8485. The seller is adamant that they bought the watch brand new and "as is" from mayor's jewelers, florida, an official rolex dealer in 1994 (according to the certificate this is correct). Is it at all possible that the bracelet, although genuine rolex has been retrofitted with the diamonds? It looks extremely factory but the links have no rolex marks. I can't believe that an official rolex dealer would add an aftermarket bracelet.
If this is an aftermarket bracelet it is extremely good ..in fact too good! I'm wondering if Rolex would send out a wacth with a diamond set bracelet 8485 (Karat) but have a clasp marked 8345 Any thoughts? |
