It Kept Calling My Name
I hope you all can bare with me on this before I post pictures. Back a little over 30 years ago, when I was a 12 year old boy I noticed my uncle's watch. He told me it was a Rolex and my aunt bought it for him around 1966 for somewhere between $125-$175. He was into Scuba Diving at the time and wanted a watch he could use when he dove. It's a Submariner that he still wears to this day, model 5512. I fell in love with it and told myself if I were ever in the position to get a Rolex, it was going to be a Submariner.
Fast forward to Sept of 2000. I went to my local AD at the time and bought a BNIB 16610. 20% off I was the happiest guy in the world. I wore it every day under just about every circumstance. In the meantime, I discovered TRF and what else was out there. Something else caught my eye, but I decided to hold on to the 16610. Then the Sub C was introduced in SS. I really liked it. The maxi dial and hands were great and the Glidelock is killer. It's a heavier watch and has more wrist presence and it gets noticed more than the 16610. However, I was more careful what I did with it. Just like before, I kept looking at a particular model. For my lifestyle, I need a SS watch that can handle everything I throw at it. Work, mowing the lawn, washing the cars, riding the motorcycle, going to the beach or pool etc. One day last week I wore my Black Monster. I noticed the slimmer profile of it compared to my Sub C, and I liked it. That got the ball rolling. I looked at a few on Saturday and sent Ken about 50 texts for his opinion Sunday night I was grilling burgers in my garage, and a deal was done. I dropped my Sub C off at FedEx yesterday morning and came home today to this. Maxi Dial and hands, slimmer profile, and I finally got it. No one guessed correctly in the thread I posted yesterday Please forgive the un boxing pics. It isn't often I get to do this. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you a modern discontinued classic. Tim...cop414...you were right with your guess 16610LV Wrist shot Needless to say I'm over the moon I'd like to thank Tony Geha...justrolexes. Thanks for looking everyone and have a great evening and week
