Battle of the Dwellers!
Well, the new SD 116600 has certainly caused a stir!
In my time on this forum, I don’t think I have ever seen anything quite like this! With every watch, there are people that are big fans, people that don’t like it, and people that are not terribly fussed either way. But the new SD has created a new dimension, it’s suddenly got all competitive and all the current Dweller owners are coming out fighting! The owners of the old SD 16600 are standing by their watches and questioning the bling factor and size of the new model. The owners of the DSSD are claiming that the DSSD is the daddy of dive watches and throwing stones at Desk Divers for daring to suggest that the DSSD is too big. The fans of the new SD 116600 are coming out fighting, suggesting that you have to be a supersize chap to wear a DSSD and that it’s the ugly duckling of the Rolex line-up. I say, Chill the chuff out! I have an SD 16600 and I love it! It works really well on the bracelet, rubber, a Nato, and it’s currently looking mighty fine on a bund. I can wear it for work, down the pub, and when I’m in the garden; I cannot think of a more versatile watch and I like it above and beyond the Sub because I have never seen another in the wild. I would love to own the DSSD because I personally think it looks the nuts; however, I do think it is too big for a chap with mincy arms and mincy wrists (that will be me then) so despite many times considering it, I have never purchased. There are lots of people my size on here that do wear one and think it looks ok, that’s their call, I don’t personally agree but then again I think Crocs look stupid and yet the rest of the world disagrees with me, so who the heck am I to judge. I have ordered the new SD 116600 because it ticks all the boxes for me, combining the best of the SubC and the old SD 16600; it’s not trying to be the DSSD, it is simply a modern version of the SD 16600, people shouldn’t work too hard to compare them just because they both have Dweller in the name. I shall be keeping my SD 16600 because I love it, and it will still have a place at weekends, but I shall wear the new SD for work because it has a little more wrist presence than the old. The new SD 116600 is an brilliant watch and will be in extremely high demand, of that there is no doubt…if you guys prefer your older model or the DSSD then that’s cool, they are different watches. And hey guys, it’s ok to like more than one version! I love all three.
