The OQ was available from 1977 to 2001. So since Rolex guarantee to service a model for 30 years, it should be good for parts and servicing until 2031 or thereabouts. It could well be that at some point in his lifetime, he might well find that my former OQ breaks, and cannot ever be repaired again. Excellent answer, thanks very much. I know there are some older quartz Breitling that cannot be serviced anymore. One solution is a donor movement from another watch, but obviously that is not a long term solution as the donor movements are just as old as the ones they are replacing.

It's a shame, because the OQ is a different part of the Rolex line, but a very nice looking piece in it's own right. To those that own them, enjoy them.
