vintage rolex on Ebay

My son is becoming enamored with Vintage Rolex watches.
Unfortunately we are more familiar with Breitling, Panerai, Hamilton and others.
I am ever more suspect of watches from Singapore etc. and anything on the bay where I can't use box and papers to help me identify the real thing.
If you guys could help me I would appreciate it very much.
