16613 Clasp Gold

Hi Guys,

I have a question about the 16613 clasp.

My friend has that watch from 1988 and it is in nice condition. One of the early ones with the 3135 from what I understand.

Anyway the clasp should have gold running down the middle and it doesn't.

I didn't get a chance to look at the stamp on the inside to see if it was replaced from a 16610 or the code.

Am I wrong in thinking that the clasp has only plated gold? Maybe it has been polished off?

The rest of the bracelet is nice and is heavy and well finished.

One of those common rules on the internet about spotting fake watches says that rolex never plate anything. Now that makes perfect sence for the crown, bezel, mid links etc. but you do you get a two tone clasp without it being plated?

Thanks

Craig
