UPDATED: ... My new and improved 5512...
So for those of you who remember, I recently posted a picture of an authentic 5512 that I had purchased with an absolute horribly refinished dial, enough so that it ruined the look of the watch.
Well big BIG thank you to John (Springer) on this forum and every one else that pointed me in the right direction, I was able to obtain an era correct, unserviced all original dial for my sub with respect to its serial number. Here are the before and after pics, I couldn't be happier with the results.... ***BEFORE*** + ***NEW DIAL*** = ***AFTER*** Just the right amount of patina, very subtle yet noticeable. The watch is now perfect, minus the still kind of glossy bezel insert. But can't complain :) Before anyone says anything, I know this kills the value of my watch to have replaced the dial lol frankly I'm aware that its probably worthless at this point :( but I love it, and I don't plan on ever selling it. All in all, with the replaced dial, the watch cost me about $5,100 .... Not too terrible :) What do you guys think? |
