After 3 years of drooling my beautiful blue beast should arrive tomorrow
I have been following this piece for 3 years and the wait is almost over thanks to my friend David Farkas (perpetualman88). I remember in 2011 My AD handed me a Patek Philippe Magazine and said maybe someday you'll want a Patek. I had purchased Panerais and Rolexes but never thought I would spend that type of serious money on a watch. I opened up the PP magazine and saw an article on this beautifully strange piece and said to my wife this is the one I want to own someday. She laughed and didn't take me too seriously. I did not want to own it due to its perceived collectability or rareness but simply because it spoke to me. After this article on the 5235G there was limited information on the piece. There were delays as we all know as the movement and dial were not easy to make. Patek had even gone as far as to take it off their website. When George from Govberg had gone to Geneva I had heard rumors that it was on Mr. Stern's wrist which gave me hope that this piece was still going to make it to the market. Even at Basel 2013 my very close friend Sam tortured me with a text message of a wrist shot of him and Mr Stern wearing this beautiful blue beast. During this time I had called many ADs to inquire. Many blew me off, others knew nothing of the piece, and some even went as far to say it was an application piece instead of just being honest and telling me when they get one it will be saved for a repeat client which I totally would've respected and understood. Being a small time collector I knew this would not be an easy piece to acquire but after reaching out to some of our TRF dealers my good friend David Farkas called me up and said he could get one new from an AD for me guaranteed by the end of 2014. He was a man of his word, super thorough, and I can't thank him enough for all his work in helping me get one of my dream watches. I want to give a big thanks to my wife for listening to me complain about this piece and how I was never going to get it. (I have a feeling this may cost me a few handbags in the future as she has imposed a 1 year ban from timepieces after this is received ) And thanks to this awesome forum and all its members for helping educate me and fielding my PMs (fremstar, perpetualman88, HL65, jorgeccw, iazrollie, patekcollector, kilyung, conkers, oryx, hairdude, hautehorlogerie, griffi, gunrnnr, mj320, and all the other kickass members on this forum). The only thing better than the watches are the people that wear them. Wrist shots tomorrow...
