Perfect 1680 Red Mark IV Submariner Priced to Move!
High Resolution album of pictures: http://imgur.com/a/tfVtg
This is the crown jewel my own collection for the past few years. It is a 3,281,XXX serial number which dates it to 1971. It was bought from a trusted forum seller and is in amazing condition. No disappointments on this piece. This watch is truly original, which is rare to find these days. The lume on the dial, hands and bezel pearl are all faded to a nice creamy color and have not been color matched! This is the original lume, not colored paint which falls out (it has happened to me, be careful with ‘color matched hands’). They are aged properly over more than 40 years and look beautiful, the perfect creamy yellow vintage patina you have been dreaming about, slightly darker towards the base. The watch is deadly accurate and works perfectly. The crown winds smooth as silk, the date flips over on most nights exactly at midnight with a satisfying click. It was serviced less than a year ago and was pressure tested as well. The crown has three dots which may have been updated early in its life or may be original, I’m not sure as it is hard to tell when they switched over to three dot crowns. The date wheel is silver, flawless and correct with open 6’s, 9’s and flat four (see some images). The fat font bezel is also completely original to the watch, and in incredible condition, it almost looks brand new except for the patina on the pearl. I get lots of compliments from other collectors on the bezel alone! The lugs have been polished at some point but are still medium-thick, although without bevels. Watch head comes on a stunning Bulang & Sons leather strap which has hardly been used. This watch was my safe queen, never saw water or any real activity, mostly a watch I wore on Sundays around the house. Looks so good on the leather strap. The dial is a perfect mark IV dial with no spots, blemishes, chips or any other issues. Anything you see in pictures is a reflection or dust on the crystal. All tick marks are all full length and the writing is crisp and perfect. There is a very light trace mark you can make out on one or two of the dial plots from the hands at some point, but you’d have to use a loupe. The dial marks have no other deformities or chipping. Perfect moon-colored circles. The Red writing is BRIGHT, you will love seeing it every time you look down at the dial and it really pops. See pictures at the link above. The acrylic original top hat crystal (it is has the correct straight sides, not the sloped top sides) and is nearly flawless. The Cyclops is only a tiny bit warped, fully in line with age but not a distraction when reading the date. The watch comes with no box/papers/bracelet. This 1680 has long been my most treasured of my collection since I got it. I'm selling to get a Precious Metal piece, and I know I'll miss it. Guaranteed to be 100% authentic & original 1680 Red Mark IV Rolex Submariner. All pictures are mine and the watch is in my possession for immediate shipping. Priced to move at $11,850 (free overnight insured shipping included). Insurance value appraisal this year was $13,950! I will accept payment via PayPal (net to me) or bank wire. I will ship only within the US, overnight fully insured. I am also willing to do a face-to-face transaction in the NY/NJ/CT area in the evening. I have many references on and off the forum, and run a popular watch blog called Wristtimes. Search 'sennheiserz' in who's who to see some of my sales and buying transaction reviews.
