16760 Dial Question

I was in a watch store this week and took a look at a Rolex 16760 from 1984 with a Coke bezel and 3085 movement.

Here's the odd part - the watch had a "stick dial"...or "error dial" with the "2" written as "||" instead of "II".

Is this correct? The movement, bracelet, basically everything but the dial seemed right. Any input would be appreciated.
