My wife and I were sitting in a diner when a gentleman wearing a Vietnam Veteran hat walked in with his wife for breakfast.

I found his server and asked for the bill. He asked if I wanted to tell him anything and I said, no. I wanted to be completely anonymous. I did not want this gentleman to have to say thank you or whatever.

I just wanted him to know he was appreciated.

Best $30 I ever spent.
