Dilemma...help me out!

Ok so here's what I'm thinking! When i finished my Masters 3 years ago, my father got me this DJII as a gift which he recognizes as the best combo Rolex ever made. I have to admit it's beautiful but it's a little different from my style. I have a DSSD as a daily wear watch and i just got a new YMII TT last week. I wore the DJII twice in the past 3 years in weddings so it looks completely brand new. Here's what i'm thinking. His birthday is in a couple of weeks and i'm thinking of giving it to him then! He has a platinum YM and i know that he'd appreciate a TT very much especially that he thinks its the best one! My question is....would it be considered weird or inappropriate like I'm returning the gift back? Would you understand?!!! I'm doing this out of love and respect to my role model...just don't want it to seem awkward in any way!!
