Another Christmas Present
So, after getting this for my wife for Christmas:
it is time for another Christmas present, this time for my 8 year old. There's a little family run watchmaker near me who looks after my vintage pieces, as well performing battery changes etc. Whenever we're there my daughter points out this watch. Picked it up yesterday as a little extra for Christmas. She always says "Look at the yellow Rolex Daddy" and she is right, it's easily mistaken for the real thing (my 14060M): It's a shame Rolex hasn't made the no-date in yellow gold! The packaging is less luxurious, but who needs a box right? Bezel movement is a little less precise, but still functional. The bracelet is very adjustable as every link has a removable pin! Brilliant! Monte Carlo has found an alternative way of saving the busy owner from having to wind the watch; it is powered by some form electrical witchcraft with a small power cell (which was replaced at the time of purchase)! All in all its a bit of a bargain. You could by over 500 for the price of a new Sub, or a new one every 2 months for your entire life! Obviously it doesn't have quite the wrist presence or "feel", but you would be able to try all the other colours out. It doesn't have a screw down crown, but being plastic it won't rust and might even float... Hopefully she will love it, and she already has a couple of NATO straps so she's all set to play at being Bond! Thanks
