Desirability of TT DJ 16233?
This was my first Rolex which I bought new from an AD in 1989. This model was the shiz in the financial world for those who couldn't swing a gold DD. My champagne stick dial was switched for a silver stick dial at its first RSC service some years later which made it easier to read for me, and, IMO, more attractive. I subsequently bought a new SS Sub Date in 2000 (while the DJ was being serviced) and a SS GMT II Pepsi a few years later.
I see the sport watches going up in value but the old TT DJs seem to be flat and have been for some years. Are they simply no longer a desirable Rolex because of the TT, size, hollow link Jubilee bracelet? I still enjoy mine a lot and wear it in regular rotation. I've heard some people say it's an old man's watch style but I was 38 when I bought mine and had wanted one for a good 10 years prior. I'm 65 now so it is indeed an "old man's" watch today. |
