It was decanted, it "breathed" while we had champagne and we drank it. The cork was fine.

You lucked out on that bottle...trust me, alot of corks would have failed at 30 years. Stags Leap Winery itself would probably like to know how its 1986 Cab is tasting, and how it's held up over such time. Wineries love keeping track of these things.
