Civil War Traveling Ink Well

All,

So this is an authentic American Civil War Traveling Inkwell. Wood, rubber/elastic, and glass. It would have hidden in the breast pocket of any common soldier until the time... late in the evening... when he could pull out his dip pen and write a letter to his most dear relatives, love, and friends.

I am so privileged to have found one that has the history of their family.

It is in pristine condition. My imagination sees the fine young son of an Confederate father protecting it as he knows it is his only means of his communication home. There is no texting! There is no email. There is only a bottle of ink and a pen in the breast pocket... closest to the heart. Where the body's warmth can keep the ink warm and ready to bleed thoughts to paper. And with hope transfer those thoughts to home. Home!

When I received it, I was very astonished to find that it still seals air tight. You could put ink in it today and carry it to Paris without issue and dip your pen into it at Les Deux Magots and bleed your thoughts to paper. Which is exactly what I intend to do this next April.

Enjoy!
