ADVICE NEEDED: Beat Up Rolex BUT Well Priced
Hi guys...
Wanted to pick the brains of more qualified and experienced members of this forum. So I've been browsing locally for a Rolex GMT Master ii 116710LN. I've found an individual seller and went to see the watch. It's in pretty scratched up state for a 5 year old watch. The guy has a box that's beat up also but it comes with the paperwork. No warranty on the watch. Guy is young and said he wore his Rolex all the time and was told scratches 'add' to the value lol, he seriously believed that I think... Anyway, Its scratched both on PCL and the brushed part. There is also a scratch on the crystal that's subtle. A lot of gunk/dirt on the bracelet also which I suspect is sweat etc... yuck! Now I've checked with the local RSC and seller is happy to take the watch there to be verified it's legit. I've also got quotes for polishing which are around $136 and crystal replacement (tho im thinking of delaying this to service in 2 years time) around $326. Now the interesting thing is this guy is desperate to sell to fund another watch. Now I've given the guy my price which is around $5000 mark. Factoring in the 'repairs' - I wanted to know what the forum thought + any other things I should be concerned about?! My intention is buy to use... then possibly in the future sell it off. Here's a pic of the current condition. |
