I ink the uninkable!!!!
I was going through my fountain pen database today (http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/fo...-for-download/) and just realized that I have so much freeking $$$ "invested" in them and that it is rather disconcerting! I could live "several" years on the money that I have invested pens in order to make them a part of my collection. I started in 1975. Call me insipid, but do read on!
So then..... the next question is why have I done so much damage to my bank accounts for this "hobby"? About every pen storage box is filled. I really have no more room for any others, but that does not satiate my desire for more. I will suppose it is just like everything else! A tangible investment! Some will say that acquiring fountain pens is not an investment! But if that is true then neither is coin collecting, stamp collecting, mineral collecting, gun collecting, gold collecting, jewelry collecting, car collecting, or any number of other collectables that are deemed as hobbies. So then there is the JOY!!! Where can you purchase joy!!!???!!! I know several places and many of them have Fountain Pen in the description! I do not care about the $$$ side of pen collecting. I collect for the joy of owning, handling, touching, and writing with some of the best fountain pens in the world. I ink the uninkable! I write with fountain pens that have been "preserved" for decades in their pristine "new uninked" conditions. Why? Because a pen was engineered to be written with and not stuck in a box on a shelf! Therefore I collect for the joy of it all! If I die tomorrow, those left behind will be a bit disconcerted when it comes what to do with them all. But I will be satisfied that I have written with the best fountain pens that human engineering has ever conceived! And that is just fine with me...!
