1959 GMT Master Ref 654 with problems

Hello,

I have just become a member and have a 1959 GMT Master Ref 6542

My watch has two problems I am hoping someone could advise me about

Firstly, it used to run well over 24 hours when wound. Now it only goes less than 12 hours (ie it runs down overnight and stops). A local watchmaker says there is nothing he can do for it but I think the problem must be well known.

Secondly, when I pull out the crown to try and adjust the time or manually wind the watch, I have great difficulty finding the precise detent position to do either of these. I think there must be wear in there and appreciate advice as to what parts need to be replaced

Thanks

Dennis
