Watch stops ticking/oscillating weight issue?
Hi peoples,
Ever since I took my Panerai 104 into the AD, it has stopped ticking every now and then. It had been sitting in the safe for about a week, which would have used up all of its reserve power, so I'm thinking it would have to have something to do with that. When the watch stops ticking, I give it a shake, and it goes fine for a little while, but then it will stop again. So, I've tried winding it, and that will work for quite a while, but then it will stop again, maybe a day later. I'm actually thinking there may be an issue with the oscillating weight. It doesn't feel the same way that it used to - actually, I can't feel it at all unless I give the watch a gentle shake! And then, it sounds...loose. Has anyone had this issue before? I'm thinking I might just have real bad luck. EDIT: Argh, this watch is plagued with problems! So much for the anti-shock device. Beautiful watch, but this is a big letdown. EDIT #2: Could it be that the oscillating weight is not moving because I've wound the watch? Just want to to clarify that before I contact the AD. EDIT #3: I think I've just got a bad watch on my hands here. Combining this with the lug hole issue - just my luck! I've emailed the AD asking for a replacement, or a refund for an exchange. I'm thinking the most likely outcome is that they will send it in for inspection, which will leave me without it for weeks. :( Last edited by skeen; 12 September 2008 at 07:08 PM.. Reason: clarity |
