Laser welding Rose gold possible?

Hey guy, I've been told by so many watch dealer as I've been consulting them on getting a novelty rg. People tell me that rg watch or any gold watch cant be laser welded so if there's a deep scratch I'm screwed. Is this true ? Anyone know or have any experience? He said this is the very reason gold watch price drop more than steel watch as well which if that's the case it make sense. Btw I've been offer a 26401j series 2016 the condition was used with slight scratches. The seller knows me and knowing I want one he send the watch to buff off the light scratches so it look nicer which ruin it for me what's ur thought on that? Or i'm over thinking
