I think both the 116520 and 116500 will keep pace with inflation but not do any better than that (excepting NOS examples after 20 years). However, if you have to buy the 500 on the secondary market, it's going to be a lot longer for inflation to catch up. I just don't see that watch staying that much above MSRP for much longer (maybe $1-2K, as it was for previous Daytona generations). The 16520 has a possibly higher ceiling, but as you noted, the bracelet and clasp (and accompanying "rattle") are starting to show their age. Some find that endearing, though.
