How do Resellers work

Hi everyone... sorry for the stupid question, but I wanted to understand how do resellers work??

For example, from who do they buy the watches (Rolex directly, AD's), how do they manage to get al those impossible models? where is their profit coming from (cheaper than AD's)?, etc.

Again, I feel kind of silly asking this but just wanted to understand a little bit more.
