Gel Refills for Montblanc Ballpoints?

I have a Meisterstück 164 and wanting to buy some refills. I really enjoy the Rollerball 'feel', and was reading that some individuals purchase gel refills for their Montblanc ballpoints, which slightly mimic this? Anyone have suggestions on quality refills I could purchase? Is Monteverde capless Gel a good choice? The pen was a 1st wedding anniversary gift from my wife, so absolutely no way it will be getting sold, just trying to improve the writing feel.

I'm also asking, as I'm pondering picking up a Starwalker Extreme. I would highly prefer to go with ballpoint over rollerball (no cap to lose, and I love the twisting mechanism) if I can find a smoother ink. The regular Montblanc ballpoint refills are not only expensive, but they're kind of skiddish and not too great.
