Rolex Exp II, 16570 from 2003 recent purchase

Started my watch hobby with a Seiko Shogun. A massive 44mm watch that was really light weight. Wore it for years and paid over $1K for it so many years ago. It was my first real watch vs. fashion watches at Macys.

Then purchased a Rolex Exp 1, 14270. Loved how lightweight and easy to fit with dress cuffs. The drilled lugs and lightweight bracelets made it fantastic. It just did not go well IMHO with Nato or Leather straps. The watch while 36mm looked smaller when I did not use the bracelet.

Wore a Sinn 556a for a while too. Seems heavy compared to previous Daily watches. Loved its simplicity and everything about it. The black face however I felt did not flow as well with aftermarket Nato or my Gasgasbones straps.

Sold all my watches and now just have the current Rolex 16570. I am officially a one watch guy now. Things I did not expect.
  • I think has Superluminova C3, which is awesome and bright
  • The holes case makes swaping straps a breeze
  • The braceltet has SEL, yet is delightfully lightweight
  • The 40mm case size wears like a 38.5~39mm due to the bezel, which I prefer
  • Very thin compared to a Seiko Diver
  • Not that Shiny and thats what I enjoy about it. The last tool looking Rolex watch IMHO
