5712 and its variations
A wrist shot of my 2007 Patek 5712 1/a in daylight. Also attached an Instagram picture from my friend @horoloupe who owns a 3712 and 2018 5712 1/a.
Some subtle differences between these three variations. 3712 without a doubt being the rarest, with only around 700-800 models produced between 2005 and 2006. 1. 5712 includes four dots on the power reserve as opposed to 3 on the 3712. 2. numbers on date indicator of 3712 is bigger than the 5712. 3. dial on 5712 includes 10 markers vs 11 markers on the 3712. 4. the color of the moon phase on the 5712 is relatively 'matte' compared to the shinier moon phase on the 3712. 5. 3712 have a considerably more grayish blue than the contemporary 5712. The 5712s' produced between 2006 and 2009 bares the Geneva seal. The color of the dial resembles the 3712, which is the grayer blue dial compared to the more recent versions of the 5712. The moon phase on my 2007 5712 also resembles the 3712 which is reflective to light as opposed to the 'matte' moon phase on the recent versions. There are only one dot at the 48 marker of the power reserve compared to 2 dots for the newer 5712s. The certificate for the 2007 5712 also bares the Philippe Stern stamp. The price of 3712 in the second hand market is close to 100k. Recent auction prices for 2007 5712 is around 375000 Hong Kong dollars (47k USD). Second hand prices for recent 5712 models is around 55k USD. With the recent hype around 5712, I hope you guys find these information interesting. Of the three, which one would you prefer? ![]() 2007 Patek 5712 1/a in pristine condition 2007 Patek 5712 1/a case back with Geneva seal 2007 certificate @horoloupe A side by side comparison of the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712 (left) and the much rarer 3712 (right) |
