More interesting vintage market - Europe vs USA?

If my title is a bit vague I'll explain.

I've been looking for ages at vintage (Rolex) watches and it amazes me every time how the US market is so so so much more interesting in price, availability and the state of the watches. Seems like Europe has the leftovers. I get the exact same feeling with vintage guitars which are more prevalent in the US.

I know the US is much bigger, different culture/mindset, certain events where people needed and bought submariners and GMTs so the market is much more interesting.

Am I correct or am I missing something?
