Double Incoming - Parents Edition!

My parents recently got back from vacation in Florida and a cruise in the Bahamas. They were on the Rolex hunt since they reached that point in their lives where they wanted to gift themselves Rolex's that they have always wanted. They visited the AD's in Miami, Orlando and even got to stop in DavidSW's shop to check out their selection. My mom obviously loved every Datejust two tone option that was given to her, but my father didn't have any pieces that were singing to them. It was definitely memorable seeing my mom smile, and my father not so much...he is extraordinarily selective with anything, at least I know where I get it from.

I was on the phone or facetiming them at every shop they stopped into and it was such a fun experience watching them hunt for the perfect pieces for them. I would try to push my father to some of the professional pieces like a YM or the bluesy, but their belief that the most iconic Rolex is the two tone Datejust or gold Day-Date. It just goes to show that the average consumer has different views than a TRFer or WIS.

Eventually, they went on their cruise and stopped at the Bahamas AD and happened upon two Datejusts that sung to them so much so, you would have thought the watches were the Sirens and my parents were in Odysseus' crew. The staff was very accommodating and swapped the oyster bracelet on my mom's DJ31 to a jubilee with the hidden clasp. She loves that feature!

My father's is the 126333 DJ41, and my mom's is the 178238 DJ31. They even got to keep some of the stickers, all the paperwork and hangtags.

I am so happy for them and happy that I got to be a part of the hunt! The watches look absolutely stunning on them and fit their personality and lifestyle very well. Thanks to you all for teaching me so much about these watches I was able to sit with them last night and show them all the hidden features of their new pieces, they couldn't contain themselves after each new hidden feature I showed them.

Thanks for reading and God bless!
