If your AD rep knew for a fact that you are the sort of guy who can actually handle the truth, I seriously doubt he would want to lie to you.

But since or she doesn’t know, I can see why the choice to lie to you was made.

This makes perfect sense to me. Anyone who has worked a day in the service industry can understand why the AD may have been less than forthcoming.
