New to Patek. 5056P

Hi guys,

I am considering obtaining my first Patek. I have a diverse collection and have 36mm day dates to a 44mm YM2 that I wear regularly.

Can anyone give me some advice about Patek ownership and specifically wearing a smaller dress watch like the 5056. I am very careful with my watches but I am slightly concerned about the complexity and the durability of wearing the watch. If my Rolex or Omega starts to loose timing accuracy, I know that there are many options to fix, but it seems that Patek service requires much more patience.

Does anyone here own an older Annual Calendar from this era especially in the 37mm size and can you share any experiences with reliability using Rolex as a reference I am familiar with. I am a larger guy and am also a bit concerned about the size, but don't think that an extra MM or so is worth the increase in cost but I would like to hear your opinions.

Thanks

I have a 7 1/4-3/8” wrist and wear a 36mm Patek dress watch daily. It is perfect.

In terms of reliability, it is extremely accurate despite its age (1990).

Fantastic. Looks amazing. Are service intervals similar to Rolex? Thankyou

I haven’t owned it for very long so I haven’t had to service it yet.

I’d guess 3-5 years between service, and it will be more costly and longer than a Rolex service. Which is why you need two Pateks!

Not sure if I can be of much help but I am 6'4" and am happily wearing a 34mm 3998P Calatrava, more so than my 5711/1A to be honest.

A few years ago I had it serviced at the Patek Service Center around the corner from where I live. There were no specific issues but it was 10+ years old w/o known service history. Cost was a little above USD 1k and it took 8-12 weeks. IIRC service costs are also published on the Patek website and increase w the complexity of the piece. From what I hear it may take quite a bit longer at HSWA at Rock Center in NYC.

Since then no problem whatsoever and as long as it stays accurate I will not think about another service for 10 years counting from the last service.

I had my 2006 Patek 3940 serviced by HSWA in 2015. Cost was $1,856.

I thinks it's nice to wear a vintage PP in the smaller range goes hand and hand. Im 6' 1'' 200lbs 5066 love the look ! Its my every day new in 1999 one service no polish. To me size doesn't make a difference, I've never heard a negative comment about size!!

Good looking watch, sorry to the OP, I am just not a fan of Patek’s annual calendar watches.
