GMT Master II 116710

Hello to all,

I am new to this form. I have been in the world of Rolex for almost a year. Pure luck I guess. Inherited a 1965 1675 with Pepsi bezel. I put some coin into the watch to get her running again, I hated it at first could not get past the blue and red faded bezel. Slowly grew on me and now I love it and have not taken it off for 7 months.

Anyhow point of this thread. I have finally convinced my wife to let me get the new 116710. I have one AD by my house at 7,000.00 however Stein Diamonds in LA about an hour drive from me has them for 5,695.00 could this be? They say they are new and authentic. I do not know enough to know 100% if it would be authentic. Has anyone ever purchased from them or know of anyone who has. Or can anyone point me in the correct direction to purchase one under 7,000. Not sure about dropping 7,000 on a “watch” as my wife says… I only plan on buying one and wearing it forever. I still do go back and forth on the 16710 w/3186 movement vs. 116710 as in my opinion a GMT is not a GMT with out the red and blue

Welcome to TRF Danny!! I have both watches (well not the 1675, the 16710 and 116710) and i definitely recommend the 116710. Shop around, but i think 5695 sounds like a very good price and i doubt a reputable jeweller could supply with fake! Nice having you here and don't forget to post some pics of the vintage Pepsi. We are very "photo-friendly" here!

Danny,
Welcome to TRF! We'd love to see pics of your pepsi. Sorry, can't help with the GMIIc other than to say good luck,

Hello I have a 116710 SS and I never take it off I love it. There is something to be said for the Pepsi Bezel with I think will become very collectable, but I personally prefer the SS. The two tone (Gold Steel) is sweet too. As Yannis says that would be a good price for a 116710, good luck sliding that by the wife.

Hi Danny,

Welcome to the forum.

I have a Pepsi GMT and a GMT IIc TT. The SS GMT IIc wasn't available when I bought the TT or I might have bought the SS instead. The GMT Pepsi is great but you will like the bigger case, the new bezel and the bigger triplock crown of the 'c'. The bracelet is also a 1000% improvement. Shop around and IMO buy the latest one ('V') that you can find at the best price.

Enjoy wearing them both.
