Game Changers Auction Coming Up in NYC
The 'Game Changers' auction by Phillips is coming up on December 10 in NYC. I find the aura around these pieces with such provenance to be part of the fun in our hobby. For those not familiar here's some great articles about the pieces:
Jack Nicklauss is auctioning off his Day Date: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ph...-date-ref-1803 Marlon Brando's GMT is being auctioned off as well: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ma...e-now-hands-on Really interested to see what these pieces will bring. The sale of the Newman two years ago was spectacular and really set the bar for pieces with known provenance. I was at the Newman sale and plan on being at this sale as well - there's a few pieces I may throw a bid on but these sales bring out the big dogs and market value goes out the window in most cases. Anyone else going to the sale>? Anyone else follow these sales>?

I have no interest in a watch worn daily since 1967 regardless of who wore it. I admire that the proceeds will go to charity. I am sure Jack's watch will appeal to many collectors.

My estimates,
Mr jacks watch has quite a history but i dont think it will catch millions. My best estimate is 150.000 usd. For brando that can be epic, cause that watch is quite simply not a usual rolex. Its misfit a rebel watch like mr brando. The chracter of the person mirrored ın that watch. Wont pass the record of daytona but i estimate it will be 5 million or so. What i am waiting for is the actual moon watch, that watch will be probably Sell for 150 maybe more millions. But legalty can be a problem haha. How about other famouse persons and their watches, lets make a list can be quite a fun |

It all goes towards the history and value of the brand. Having pieces with such provenance that bring historically important sale records adds to the brand. While I may not want his watch - the sale and watch itself add to what makes Rolex - Rolex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Charity auctions selling prices don't reflect the true value of the item being auctioned.

Proceeds go to charity just like the Newman sale. So no write off for the buyer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
