Breguet makes a fabulous group of watches and are one of the oldest manufacturers around. I think this watch looks clunky though, and think that there are finer looking chronographs out there. All my opinion though and others may love it.

Own two, love both. Have a real hard time leaving the house with only one of them on...

one of the models you're asking about has the same exact movement as one of mine, the XXI. With the XXI, the only difference is an updated case (larger) and a different dial. So if you're entering Breguet, the XX is an EXCELLENT way in for a great price - as the XXI tends to fetch a high dollar (but it also retains great value). That flyback chrono is one of the crispiest I have ever heard/felt, how the hands align is simply awesome, and the chrono minute hand is sweet being positioned in the center, rather than sub-dial......

Can't say enough about them!

I have a type XX in titanium. It's got a carbon fiber dial, so I guess it looks sportier. Very nice watch with a good history behind it. The type XX and XXI both use a Lemania movement, which is a high end movement, a step above ETA. As stated, the chronograph function works extremely well.

The model in the photo looks good! Later, you could probably get yourself a steel bracelet so you have another option. In my opinion, simply swapping bands adds a ton of variety for not a lot of cash.

lorsban,

I have decided to get one of this. My dillema is whether the model XXI is worth the extra money than the model XX.
Mosco (member here) have a preowned model XXI for $5825.00 and I can get a brand new model XX for $4850.00. Not sure which way to go.

By the way, what part of the Philippines Island are you located?

The XXI is similarly styled to the XX so you're better off comparing them side by side. Personally, the XX looks like a good deal and per-owned you could end up paying about $3,500 or so. I recommend the steel version over titanium as it's easier to polish. But, again, try comparing each in person.

I'm from Davao, which is in the south.

I think so. They were all renowned watch makers in their time and Breguet's definitely got a client list that can rival anyone else's in the watch world.

That's a nice looking watch. And one that I was not expecting to see. As I am used to viewing the more classic looking Breguet's.
I too would place them in the upper end of the luxury market

"CELEBRATED PATRONS:

The House of Breguet was privileged to create timepieces for the diplomatic, scientific, military and financial elite.

Among its clients, Queen Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte, Talleyrand, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Caroline Murat, Tsar Alexander I of Russia, Queen Victoria, Sir Winston Churchill and Arthur Rubinstein who put their confidence in the taste and artistry of Breguet.

BREGUET IN LITERATURE:

The number of references to Breguet watches in French and foreign literature is an indication of the remarkable reputation enjoyed by both the firm and its founder. Breguet is now so deeply rooted in European culture that the name is virtually a sine qua non of any depiction of the aristocracy, the bourgeoisie or, quite simply, a life of luxury and elegance.

Stendhal, Mérimée, Pushkin, Balzac, Alexandre Dumas, Thackeray and Victor Hugo are only some of the writers who have made reference to Breguet in their works, followed closer to our own day by Kuprin, Max Jacob and Patrick O'Brian." (from their site)

If you go to their website, they have many more details. In my humble opinion, Breguet has the deepest history out of any brand. Abraham Louis Breguet was a brilliant man, who in the late 1770's invented to tourbillon! How incredible is that?

As far as asking whether it is on par with Patek - absolutely. Throughout the years, only four brands are widely considered as pinnacle of watchmaking (meaning the production is small and in-house, almost no borrowed movements at all, serious complications are in the lineup AND incredible history behind the brand) - Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Patek and Breguet, not necessarily in that order.

Have never really looked at the brand before - still a watch noob. Beautiful - looks tough and like a piece of art at the same time.

Love the look of both of them. Future grail for me?

Mosco - I might have to come see this store of yours sometime. Sounds like you deal in some very fine watches.

Anytime!

It really isn't a store - more of a gallery. Since walk-in business isn't the strongest in the S. Ohio, we moved majority of business online. We still have inventory on location, so I will definitely have some cool stuff to show. Just give me a call in advance!

To add another tidbit: When I got my Type XX, I was told that only 5,000 are made per year. I know that's not exactly small but compared to the likes of Omega/Rolex/Tag, who make that number per model in maybe a month or less, it's really not a lot.
