What is the purpose of looking at the FS forum?

Why look anymore? There are no good deals.

All the Rolex SS Professional models are selling for thousands over msrp.

I guess if you look, you might get a good chuckle when you see the asking prices.

Hard to believe all this stuff sells at those ridiculous prices.

I guess that depends on what you are looking for.

If you are only looking at certain things then yes, you should stop

They only have to be a good deal in relation to the market price.

Come back in a few months, the relentless weeks of bumping over priced Rolex can’t go on much longer, times are changing.

Bring on the AD’s wanting our custom for an already very expensive tool watch!

It was only a few short years ago that discounts were the norm.
Trusted sellers would get a break from ADs for bulk purchases and pass some of that savings to the buyer... I don’t believe we will see that again anytime soon.

On the bright side dress watches are being discounted. How about a nice Patek?

It was not long ago that Hulks were collecting dust in the display cases of AD's.

As far as Rolex goes, you can find better deals on chrono24 from trusted dealers because the volume is much higher than the FS section.

Over the summer I saw a slightly used black DSSD (126660) listed for $10k. Not a bad price! I also enjoy just looking at the pics

There are plenty of good deals. A good deal is something that's under market price, not something that's under MSRP.

If you're expecting people to sell watches for dramatically less than they're worth, well, yes, you'll be disappointed. But the FS forum has never offered that. Your complaint amounts to, "Watches cost more right now and I don't like it."

Because we know the economy is cyclical and will crash at some point, we know prices will come down eventually, we just don't know when.

If you've got cash on hand I would just be patient. Things will change.

Agree, the FS section on TRF is not the place to find a watch for a fair price

OMG Bill you listed you DJ41 for hundreds over MSRP just a few months ago and then you lowered it to MSRP.

Why didn't you list yours for thousands below msrp so someone could get a great deal ?? ( and yes I had a good chuckle when I saw your asking price)

Sorry but just a perfect post to complain about

Never in a million years did I think I would get over MSRP.
Duey, perhaps you never sold a watch on the forum, you have to ask a little more and be flexible on the price, especially a watch that is common in AD's displays.

I think they should separate personal/private sellers and re-seller/overprice-trusted-sellers

Uhh... he’s a trusted seller.

Anyway, I find great deals here and there. In fact just got one recently. If you’re expecting to find something in high demand below MSRP, right now is not the time and you will have to wait for the eventual drop in demand. However, there are a lot of high value proposition watches that aren’t in demand that are being listed for a steal.

The prices are just market prices for immediate purchases of watches that have wait times / hard to find at AD's.

Why look?
Well, to buy of course. Or just to see what the current market is. It’s rather simple.

I don't think the watches actually sell for the asking prices. An asking price is just an asking price. If you want a good deal you will need to make an offer.

In 2016 when I bought a 116500 for $15000 most here thought it was a terrible deal.

A good deal to me means buying something you want, for a fair market price from a seller you respect and are happy to support.

4 years ago, paying $8800 for a 116610LV would be a terrible deal. It would have still been under MSRP. Get my point?

This thread is just another way of crying about the "shortage" and the state of the market.

This ^^^!

Asking price is often not indicative of what something sells for. I have bought 3 Rolex's in the past couple weeks and all were under MSRP. 2 were from trusted TRF dealers.

As the old saying goes, "Never hurts to ask and you won't know the answer unless you do."
