Purchase history helping or hurting?
When it comes to purchase history, does buying coveted watches help or hurt getting other SS models? For example, I have been in line for a BLRO and in the meantime my AD sourced a LVc and SS Daytona for me this past year, both of which I purchased. He knows I am not a flipper as I wear them all the time and am wearing one of the two whenever I drop in.
Does the fact I purchased those bolster my purchase history/help put me in a position to purchase other SS models, or hurt me because the AD has taken care of me and presumably needs to spread the love a bit to other customers? |

I can only speak from my experience. My last three AD purchases were a BLNR, BLRO, and Daytona each about a year apart. Pretty sure if I asked for something else I would take my place in line with no restrictions. Sounds like maybe your dealer overextended their promises for the BLRO in the beginning and is still trying to catch up.

It really depends on the market you are in. The fact that you were able to get in the last year an LV Sub, and a Daytona, means you have significant history with the AD or the market is small and you don't have to compete with too many other buyers. If it's a small market AD then they may have low allocation for the BLRO.

The more you buy the more you get. AD's want to sell and don't want trouble from Rolex with selling to flippers, so if they know you and think you a genuine buyer then you will become one of the go to customers.

I think the purchase power to get high demand pieces really comes with buying not just watches but jewelry also. They want you to typically buy some diamonds , watches basically all they have to
Offer. I think sometime if you just buy rolex it may not help you. I Bought 75k in rolex last year and really didn’t get offered anything good but broken promises. I got a root beer which was one that wasn’t super hard to get a polar , gmt stainless , blue datejust , two tone blue sub. But this was before some of these watches started to dry up on availability. They have not offered me anything worth a crap in my mind. I decided to just buy gray for all watches. The higher demand watches cost a premium but what about day dates and stuff like that you sure can save thousands on one ! |

Purchase history helping or hurting?
OP: Imo and in my situation, buying hard to get pieces offered from my AD, has only helped strengthen my AD relationship.
Unless they said “this is it this year” or made it seem like they wouldn’t honor a previous request for a model, I think these purchases are only strengthening your position. |

Depends on your AD. But typically the more you spend, the more brownie points you get with the dealer. They’ll sell to you over a stranger off the street.

Thank you, I am hoping you are right! I was told back in early summer next Pepsi Would be mine, but I instead was offered the Daytona recently and bought it. Just mainly was hoping being offered/buying the Daytona doesn't bump me way down the list for the Pepsi. I have been very lucky and in no way complaining, just wondering how it all works |
