I think this is good advice. If I happen to walk past an AD, I’ll stop in but I’m relaxing in Bruges with my wife and then back to Paris before going home. Thank you to all here...

same thing in South Florida, just some Datejust and not even 41, the 36 mm mainly , a few cellinis and a couple of YM. That is mostly what you find, occasionally you may find a couple of TT subs or TT Daytona's. No SS on sight at all, long waiting lists as well as everywhere else I guess for the Daytona's , the pepsi, Hulk , even the BLNR or regular sub no date they say 1 year at least and that is with previous purchase history

Ah that’s a bummer. Doesn’t seem like it’s going to be changing soon enough either.

Even Rolex sold themselves short. The general public perceived a Rolex to cost more than the SS watches that FLOODED the AD cases just 3-4 yrs ago, so when they stumble in the store, they see a Sub Date for $8500 and think...omg it's way less than I thought and immediately buy it. TT and PM didn't have a chance.

But with slight modifications in distribution and merchandising the true power of the Rolex brand has been unleashed.

People are wanting and able to buy TT and PM over SS....especially since the SS aren't flooding the cases. This is what people were willing to buy all along, they just needed a little nudge.
The Lord has spoken. Well said.

Even in Paris??? It should even be harder to get sports models in big hub cities like Paris. There will typically be more disposable income and therefore higher demand than other cities.

I may have already said this but it occurs to me, in a big international tourist destination like Paris where there are many ADs to choose from, there might have been half a chance to actually see inventory of sports models in display cases...apparently I was overly optimistic about that. However, It is always fun for me to walk into an AD anywhere in the world, wearing a Rolex like my JC DSSD that starts up a conversation with sales people. You hear all sorts of little tidbits of info they hear from the factory.

This is both a hilarious and insightful post. People have selective memories and are largely propelled by wishful thinking.

Those aside, a dealer will able to source you basically any PM piece. There aren't nearly enough buyers for them, especially with brands like Patek, AP, etc. offering watches in that price range.
The White Gold Yachtmaster 42 has been in the display case at my AD store for weeks, if not months. How is that a popular model, it's a 28k USD watch and it looks as expensive as an omega seamaster diver

As of the time I made that post, it was certainly in demand with a wholesale premium of at least $1.5-2K. If that has changed now, cool. Irrespective of the market, it's a fantastic watch.

I suspect that even if supplies really increase next year, ADs will continue their practice of hiding the watches to create the illusion of scarcity......

I’m not so sure it’s an Illusion. That’s why I like to read on this forum, lots of opinion, speculation and some actual info. Fascinating really!

That illusion is based on speculation (of some people) that Rolex increases supplies next year and certain basic SS sport model become “not as scarce in supply”......ADs will do whatever they can to maximize profit.

It’s that way everywhere, can’t find anything. To be honest this has the feeling of the housing bubble. While I love Rolex subs and Daytona’s are not worth the asking price. Nice watches but there price tag is a little ridiculous at this point and waiting list for a mass produced product is beyond comprehension. Rich people don’t overpay.

I thought the ‘bubble bursting’ theory was the grey prices falling, not ADs being fully stocked..
