The black dial is for those who cant get the white dial. Yes I know there are those who will say "i prefer the black dial" but they are fibbing. Wait and get the white dial. It is the noble thing to do,

Hold out for the one you really want. IF my nearest AD said he had a white 116500 I would say no as I really want the black dial. I will be waiting a while for the AD to put my resolve to the test as he quoted me 10 years

If you was offered a black dial take it. In my opinion they are both beautiful watches. I think I’m in the same boat as you with regards to leaning abit more to the white however the black is still lovely

I turned down a black dial wanting a white dial. I’m glad I bought it when I got a second chance months later. The black dial is beautiful and have worn it over a year since. I’m still waiting for a white dial, it’s been over 3 years. Both are very different and beautiful in its our way.

I was in same position ... I asked to be put on list. I said I was interested in either but had a slight preference in white — to be honest, I had never seen either in person and was going just by pictures.

58 days later they said they had a black if u wanted it ... and I took it on Christmas Eve. No regrets!

One in the hand is worth two in the Bush.

As others have noted, you could take black and flip for white for just a few grand difference.

Or, like me, love the one you’re with!

White is prettier — Black is sexier.

It’s kinda like Olivia Newton John IN movie grease...

White = Sandra Dee
Black = sexy black outfit at end

Speak for yourself. I asked for and received a black dial DaytonaC. Starting with my long gone 16520 in 2000 I’ve now had two white and two black SS.

Totally get the pragmatic approach of waiting longer for a less certain outcome that is ultimately for the watch you want more. That said, taking the black now, enjoying it and seeing if it doesnt grow on you to an equal level as the white over time is a solid play here. You get a different configuration way sooner that you can definitely trade someone for a panda dial down the road whether market goes higher or lower!

I had the choice to pick either one, and chose black. Looked much better in person to me. Maybe not to the next guy, but to me it did. The white looked tiny on my wrist

IF it feels like “settling” then don’t do it. Wait for the watch you want.

I was/am on the list for a white dial, but was offered a black dial & went in to try it on- having never had the black-ceramic on my wrist before. Once I did, it was all over, The watch is simply too refined & beautiful (& one of the finest vertical clutch column wheel chronographs made - I like to run center-seconds) & fits my 6.5" wrist too perfectly not to buy. Also, for me, it's very legible, but obviously YMMV in that department.

Will it bump me down the White-dial list? Probably, if not certainly, but totally worth it!

Buy the black now. If you can read it, keep it. If you can't, flip it for the white one grey market.

OP passed on the black dial in favor for the white (which he really wanted). Good for you OP and post pics when you get the call for white!

Wow you must like your sub C more than that Daytona. I would have gotten rid of the sub.

I'd get the black and stay on the waiting list for the white. Even if the market falls out completely I don't anticipate that you'll take much of a haircut on the black one, if at all, when reselling.
