Boy, this watch sure does make a SS Daytona at MSRP look like a bargain value wise. Now the challenging part, trying to find one after the world returns to normal!

I will also confess, I think the last one I saw must have been a fake because the details on how the numerals were done is really quite stunning and proportionate. The last one I held in my hand I don't think was a polished or crisp on the hour markers.
At first sight both the 5167 and 5711 are pretty underwhelming. I’d say that anyone who gets either because of the hype is going to be disappointed.

To fully appreciate either takes some time. However once you get it, you realise these perfectly simple watches, are in fact simply perfect.

Sounds like you are ready. Good luck

Thanks for the fun article referral.

@RussW - Yeah it was interesting because the friend I borrowed it from, he felt underwhelmed about it the day he picked it up, and after settling in for a week, then was finally enamored by it.

I only wish they made the RG with black dial and black strap configuration.

Kimsun, out of curosity which one do you find yourself wearing more?
The 5167a! The aquanaut strap is way comfortable compared to the Oysterflex! And the weight of the 5167a is unparalleled!

Admittedly I’ve only tried a 5167 once. Fully agree that it vastly superior in legibility. Beyond that it’s clearly a matter of preference.

If you like a delicate feeling timepiece that you can literally hear the rotor movement on it is your jam. :)

Love the rotor sound and feel. One of my favorite parts of the watch

This model has been catching my eye the last few weeks. Given that I have no purchase history with an AD, I’d have to go grey. The premium is tough to swallow but if I end up buying it preowned I would never plan on moving it. And I’m not on the camp of buying watches for speculative purposes. I buy them to enjoy.

I guess the gray premium answers the question what's the value of the Patek stamp for this watch. For less $$$, you could have a metal bracelet (AP RO). For same $$$ you can have chrono and gold case (Dayaona OF).

And yet...I'm probably still going to take the plunge for something in the Aqua gray range. 67/64/r/a.
