Incoming Calatrava 5116G - Enamel!

Hi all,

Very very fortunate to be able to add this one to the collection. It is just a perfect piece in all respects and the enamel dial makes it extra special. It seems to wear much larger than 36mm and fits me well. Love all high end watch brands but Patek is Patek!

My second Patek and compliments my gondolo 5124J very well.

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Also added a rare AP Jules Audemars last week so you may want to see that thread in the AP forum as that watch is equally stunning. Keep safe all.

Congrats! Photos really don't do the enamel dials justice.

Enamel dial watches are special

I believe the 5116 series were produced in relatively small numbers compared to its 5119 cousin.

Enjoy

Thanks - completely agree and apologies for my poor attempt! There is a very high gloss finish to the dial, almost as if it was still wet. The texture and depth of the dial is unbelievable and I now appreciate the work it takes to create enamel dials.

The 5116 was quite a bit more expensive than the 5119 but now appreciate why this is although on first glance the dials appear very similar.

It would be interesting to know how many 5116 were produced in white gold and rose gold

Also for those that are unaware the word EMAIL below the 6 marker is french for enamel and the 5119 is marked SWISS and has a lacquered dial.

That is very cool!

A few years ago, my AD had the 5116R and the 5119R available at the same time and handed me a loupe to compare the dials. It was interesting to see the difference under magnification.

Once again, congrats and enjoy this special watch!

Many thanks, it feels really special on the wrist especially when the light catches the dial and you see the wet gloss of the pure white dial

Don’t get me started on the hobnail bezel!

Thanks to everyone for the lovely wishes

A very stylish and discreet watch.... would look especially good with black tie.

Completely agree - a perfect compliment to a formal occasion that will slip nicely under the cuff. Rather embarrassingly I am wearing it at home in shorts during the lockdown period

Classic piece, many congrats!

It is nice to see some one enjoying pieces like Calatrava and Gondolo without focussing purely on Aquanauts/Nautilus.

Incoming Calatrava 5116G - Enamel!

Few more pics, notice the details of the case and bezel - the brushed case with a polished hobnail bezel and then an inner polished bezel.

Also tried to capture the enamel dial with a light and notice how it is glossy and almost wet like texture.

It is these sorts of details for me which justifies the high cost.
