What's wrong with the 6006G?
I get the impression that the Calatrava 6006G is not a highly regarded piece. I actually like the sporty nature of the piece and think the date indicator adds interest. The only think I don't like is the shiny black strap- would be much better with a matte black strap. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this piece.

It’s one of my favorite Calatrava’s. It’s a bit quirky. I think you either like it or don’t. If I needed a dress watch it would be my choice.

For it just doesn't tick the right boxes.
It is monochromatic, it's not really dressy, not really sporty and is does not have exotic complications. So it is not bad, but for that kind of money I can buy another watch that suits me better. |

Yes, you like it or you don't... For me the date and hour rings are too similar in terms of looks. So no to 6006G (and 6000G).
I do like the 5000G though and I would like to add a 240 movement Patek. Two issues have held me back so far: 1) Not a fan of rhodium-plated white gold. 2) Not sure I need another small Calatrava from the 1990s in addition to my 34mm 3998P. The 5000G will look smaller yet than the 3998P given the black dial, slightly wider bezel, and 33mm case, possibly too small even for me. |

It’s interesting, but the dial just seems too busy

Sadly, nowadays it’s regarded as a bundle piece. People are willing to take 40-50% cut just to get rid of it. Don’t know how much longer this system can last. Now we have a rather bad economic outlook for the rest of the year. Game might change a bit perhaps.

Well, if the strap is your main concern it is easy enough to change out to the matte black. I actually like this watch on a dark brown strap for the contrast with the dial. Never fret over straps, if you buy from an AD they swap out for free for whatever you want on most any model as an accommodation in the sale.

too much of a hybrid of dress, sport, modern, in a classic piece for me.

The hands... I can’t get past them. Skelotonized and awkwardly short.

Just personally can't relate to the design. Maybe I'm too traditional.

Looks like no one likes it enough to put up a pix?
OK, just googled a pix of it and now I understand.
